Samsung SDI Selects CK Solution as EPC Contractor for Malaysia Battery Plant Dry Rooms and Clean Rooms

[The Guru = Reporter Oh So-young] Samsung SDI has officially selected CK Solution as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the dry rooms and clean rooms at its manufacturing facility in Malaysia. Building upon their successful track record of collaboration in South Korea, China, and Hungary, the two companies are extending their partnership to Malaysia to accelerate factory construction.

 

According to industry sources on the 9th, Samsung SDI signed a comprehensive EPC contract with CK Solution for the dry room and clean room facilities at its Malaysian battery manufacturing plant.

 

Founded in 2004, CK Solution is a premier engineering firm specializing in the construction of Dry Rooms and Clean Rooms—critically essential infrastructure for the advanced battery manufacturing process. A dry room is a highly controlled environment designed to maintain indoor temperature, humidity, and cleanliness at strict, consistent levels. A clean room serves as a sterile, contamination-free space that filters out micro-dust and airborne particles. Both facilities are vital for preventing the infiltration of dust and moisture, thereby directly enhancing battery quality and safety.

 

CK Solution’s technical competitiveness has been widely recognized in the global market, culminating in the company being honored with the $50 Million Export Tower and the Presidential Commendation at the 2020 Trade Day ceremony. The company boasts a stellar global client portfolio, including LG Energy Solution, SK IE Technology (SKIET), Hanwha Solutions, Lotte Aluminium, and Vietnam's VinFast. Notably, it has previously secured major dry room construction contracts from Samsung SDI for its key manufacturing complexes in Cheonan (South Korea), Tianjin (China), and Göd (Hungary).

 

By strengthening its strategic cooperation with CK Solution, Samsung SDI plans to aggressively accelerate the expansion of its Malaysian production base. Established in 1991, the Malaysian subsidiary is Samsung SDI’s very first overseas legal entity. While it initially produced cathode-ray tubes (CRTs), it successfully transitioned into mass-producing advanced batteries in 2012.

 

Samsung SDI is currently investing approximately 1.7 trillion KRW to construct its second battery plant in Seremban, Malaysia. Upon its final completion scheduled for 2025, the facility will mass-produce "PRiMX 21700" cylindrical batteries (measuring 21mm in diameter and 70mm in height).
