Samsung SDI Selects CK Solution as EPC Contractor for Malaysia Battery Plant Dry Rooms and Clean Rooms

[The Guru = Reporter Oh So-young] Samsung SDI has officially selected CK Solution as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for the dry rooms and clean rooms at its manufacturing facility in Malaysia. Building upon their successful track record of collaboration in South Korea, China, and Hungary, the two companies are extending their partnership to Malaysia to accelerate factory construction. According to industry sources on the 9th, Samsung SDI signed a comprehensive EPC contract with CK Solution for the dry room and clean room facilities at its Malaysian battery manufacturing plant. Founded in 2004, CK Solution is a premier engineering firm specializing in the construction of Dry Rooms and Clean Rooms—critically essential infrastructure for the advanced battery manufacturing process. A dry room is a highly controlled environment designed to maintain indoor temperature, humidity, and cleanliness at strict, consistent levels. A clean room serves as a sterile, contamination-free space that filters out micro-dust and airborne particles. Both facilities are vital for preventing the infiltration of dust and moisture, thereby directly enhancing battery quality and safety. CK Solution’s technical competitiveness has been widely recognized in the global market, culminating in the company being honored with the $50 Million Export Tower and the Presidential Commendation at the 2020 Trade Day ceremony. The company boasts a stellar global client portfolio, including LG Energy Solution, SK IE Technology (SKIET), Hanwha Solutions, Lotte Aluminium, and Vietnam's VinFast. Notably, it has previously secured major dry room construction contracts from Samsung SDI for its key manufacturing complexes in Cheonan (South Korea), Tianjin (China), and Göd (Hungary). By strengthening its strategic cooperation with CK Solution, Samsung SDI plans to aggressively accelerate the expansion of its Malaysian production base. Established in 1991, the Malaysian subsidiary is Samsung SDI’s very first overseas legal entity. While it initially produced cathode-ray tubes (CRTs), it successfully transitioned into mass-producing advanced batteries in 2012. Samsung SDI is currently investing approximately 1.7 trillion KRW to construct its second battery plant in Seremban, Malaysia. Upon its final completion scheduled for 2025, the facility will mass-produce "PRiMX 21700" cylindrical batteries (measuring 21mm in diameter and 70mm in height).  Contact: osy@theguru.co.krOriginal Article:  https://www.theguru.co.kr/news/article.html?no=44841https://www.theguru.co.kr/news/article.html?no=44841

CK Solution: The Driving Force Behind the Evolution of the Korean Battery Industry

[Seoul Economy Business = Reporter Ahn Kwang-seok] Located in Singal-dong, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, CK Solution Co., Ltd. (CEO Ahn Keun-pyo) stands out as a hidden champion that has quietly yet powerfully built the foundation of South Korea's advanced battery industry. Founded in 2004, the company specializes in manufacturing Dry Rooms—a critically essential infrastructure in the battery production process. Today, CK Solution commands an overwhelming market share. This dominant position stems from the fact that its advanced technology has been widely adopted by major battery manufacturers not only in South Korea but also extensively across Western nations. Furthermore, the company's cutting-edge Dry Room solutions are projected to be implemented in numerous mega-scale battery manufacturing plants currently under construction throughout the United States and Europe.   The reason Dry Rooms are so vital is because they are directly linked to battery quality and safety. Due to the inherent characteristics of lithium-ion batteries, which are extremely sensitive to moisture, the humidity in the production air must be rigorously maintained at less than 1%. To put this into perspective: while semiconductors require a pristine "Clean Room" that eliminates even the microscopic dust, battery manufacturing demands an even more complex environment that simultaneously controls both dust particles and moisture levels. Particularly in the electric vehicle (EV) battery sector, manufacturing process control is exceptionally strict due to the staggering financial risks associated with potential safety recalls. This high barrier to entry means that newcomers rarely get an opportunity to enter the supply chain. This is precisely why CK Solution has been maintaining an unstoppable growth trajectory. In recognition of these achievements, the company was honored with the $50 Million Export Tower and the Presidential Commendation at last year's Trade Day ceremony. Despite its success, CK Solution refuses to become complacent. The company continues to roll out a barrage of revolutionary technologies, including next-generation Dry Rooms specifically designed for solid-state batteries and highly innovative hybrid dehumidification systems, firmly operating on the belief that losing focus for even a moment can lead to being overtaken by competitors. CK Solution's ultimate goal is definitive: to establish itself as the world’s leading engineering corporation. Looking back at its stellar growth trajectory so far, this is by no means an impossible objective. Above all, the company's top priority remains centered on its workforce, driven by the core philosophy that cultivating adventurous and creative talent is the ultimate key to unlocking the future.  Contact: business@sedaily.com https://www.sedaily.com/NewsView/22VI8Z7GFI

These figures demonstrate that the company is not only solidifying its well-established foothold in China—a market it targeted early on—but is also successfully anchoring itself in Europe, which is still in its initial expansion phase. CK Solution’s steep growth trajectory is heavily driven by the rapidly expanding global electric vehicle (EV) market. Transitioning into the ultimate future of eco-friendly transportation, EVs are gaining unstoppable momentum across Europe, the US, and China, with India, Japan, and South Korea poised to follow. The inevitable surge in the EV market directly accelerates the growth of the EV battery industry. Crucially, CK Solution is a specialized enterprise that designs and constructs the high-tech Dry Rooms and Clean Rooms absolutely essential for battery manufacturing. Recent market research and regulatory movements in advanced economies, including Europe, indicate that the EV battery market is bound to experience continuous growth over the next 10 to 20 years. CK Solution plans to further reinforce its market-leading position within this EV battery sector. Moving aggressively, the company penetrated the US market this July by securing a 7.5 billion KRW project, and has already surpassed $15 million USD in exports in the second half of 2018 alone. In line with these achievements, an official from CK Solution tentatively anticipated that the company could achieve 100 billion KRW in revenue in 2019 for the first time since its founding. Industry attention is now keenly focused on how far CK Solution will elevate its global standing in the Dry Room and Clean Room industries.
